At 6:08 PM, our department was alerted to assist Berwyn Fire Company as the Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) at a house fire on Leopard Road in Easttown Township.

A crew responded with Rescue 65. Upon arrival, our crew completed a 360° assessment of the house and assembled as the RIT team. After the fire was knocked down, our crew assisted with overhaul and handling hot spots on the first and second floors. Our crew cleared the scene after about 2.5 hours.

The primary purpose of a RIT crew is to be on standby outside and be fully ready to react immediately if a firefighter inside the structure experiences an emergency such as a major medical emergency or injury, running out of air or becomes trapped.
