Sarah Menage, Erick Peirce and Cyan "Sky" Zacarias have successfully completed Essentials of Firefighting (Firefighter 1) training at the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety Fire Academy. This week, Sarah, Erick and Cyan graduated along with 38 other recruits of class number 2302.

Firefighter 1 is a 188-hour entry-level national certification course our firefighters must complete before they may fight fire inside a burning structure. In addition to various methods of fire suppression, recruits are also certified in hazardous materials operations, CPR and first aid.

All three of these new graduates joined our department during the second half of last year. They worked diligently to complete this program in less than a year. Congratulations Sarah, Erick and Cyan and thank you for choosing to serve your community!

Your Phoenixville Fire Department is a 'combination' department which means our team is a mix of paid and volunteer firefighters. We are always looking for new volunteers to serve as firefighters, fire police, medical responders or administration. If you are interested and have the time to commit to your community, click on 'Volunteer' on the menu here on our site.
