At 3:38 PM, our department was alerted for an engine to assist UPT Fire & Emergency Services with a large brush fire in the wooded area between Lover's Lane and Lock 60 in the Mont Clare Section of Upper Providence Township.
Initially Chief and Engine 65 responded to the incident. As the incident progressed, additional personnel responded with Recue 65 and Utility 65-1. Our crews assisted with using rakes and leaf blowers to create fire breaks, pulling apart burning wood & brush, and using hose lines to extinguish the fire.
Phoenixville crews cleared the scene after almost five hours.
My husband & I drove through the area heading to our home off of Whitehorse Road and noticed the hazy smoke and smell of burning leaves. Considering how dry it has been, it scared us a bit thinking how easily fires can spread. Thank you to all of the fire company personnel for getting this bush fire under control...and for saving the turtle, too! Thank you for caring for our communities in the Phoenixville area.
