During Tuesday's Borough of Phoenixville Council Meeting, Tanner Kouba, Ian McCormick and Jack Nudy were sworn in as full-time career firefighters. The trio affirmed their oath of office with family and friends at their side. The oath was administered by Council President Jonathan Ewald.
Tanner Kouba joins the Department after working full-time most recently with Main Line Health - Riddle EMS. Tanner has several years of volunteer experience with Minquas Fire Company No. 1 in Downingtown and East Brandywine Fire Company. He has also worked at other fire/EMS agencies in Chester County and works part-time at the Goshen Fire Company.
Ian McCormick rejoins the department after working full-time most recently with D.C. Fire & EMS, assigned to Tower 3. Ian has strong ties to the Phoenixville community having grown up in the borough and later graduating from Phoenixville Area High School. Ian first joined as a volunteer firefighter in 2012. During his time with us, he served a term as Lieutenant and was later hired as a part-time firefighter.
Jack Nudy joins the Department after being a live-in member at Goodwill Fire Company No. 2 in West Chester. Jack is finishing his undergraduate degree at West Chester University. Jack first joined the fire service as a third-generation volunteer firefighter with the Berwyn Fire Company.
Two of these full-time positions are new, added this year. We now have a total of seven full-time career firefighters, including two chief officers, along with 16 part-time firefighters. We are a "combination” department meaning our firefighters are comprised of both career and volunteer personnel.
We congratulate Tanner, Ian and Jack on earning their new position in Phoenixville. We thank our community, and borough council and staff for funding the new positions. |
