At 2:25 PM, our department and first-alarm mutual aid companies were alerted for a house fire on the 300 block of Church Street. The caller reported a house on fire. Subsequent callers corrected the address to the 300 block of Hall Street.
Chief, Engine, Ladder, Rescue, Utility 65-1 and Utility 65-2 responded to the incident. Chief 65 requested a "Working Fire Dispatch" be transmitted due to a visible header in the sky from some distance out. Chief 65 arrived, confirmed a fire at the Hall Street address and assumed command of the incident. Rescue 65 was the first apparatus to arrive and laid a 5-inch diameter supply line. Two hand lines were placed in service by the crew of Rescue 65 and the fire was quickly extinguished. Command recalled any responding fire units that had not yet arrived on scene. The fire was placed 'under control' after about 20 minutes.
A neighboring house was also damaged by the fire. The majority of the damage was contained to exterior walls of both houses. Occupants had safely exited both homes prior to the fire department’s arrival. No injuries were reported. Phoenixville Police assisted with safe removal of a dog which was inside one of the houses.
The last remaining fire crews cleared the scene after about two hours. This incident is under investigation by the Chester County Department of Emergency Services Fire Marshal's Office.
An engine from each Lower Providence Fire Department and Ridge Fire Company were diverted to our station on Paradise Street to provide coverage in the area during this incident. |
