At 12:47 PM, Kimberton Fire Company was alerted for a trash truck fire on Township Line Road at Kimberton Road (Route 113) in Phoenixville Borough. The caller reported the rear of a trash truck on fire, and while the driver attempted to contain the fire with an extinguisher, the effort was unsuccessful.

Due to the location of the fire, our department also responded to the incident. Firefighters initially attempted to extinguish the fire without removing the contents, but the fire was deep-seated and persistent. Ultimately, the contents had to be emptied onto the roadway for full extinguishment.

A backhoe from Phoenixville Public Works assisted in spreading out the recycle material, allowing crews to extinguish all hot spots. Cleanup of the debris was turned over to the disposal company.

Our crews cleared the scene in just under an hour.
